Hi Friends and Neighbors!
It's been a full season here at TerraStay Farm, and we wanted to share what's been happening around the place.
Shop Update
Our online farm store is live on Shopify! You can browse everything we have in season and order straight from the farm , fresh produce, microgreens, eggs, and more. Check it out here: https://www.terrastay.com/FarmersMarket
We've also made some changes to our website and email handler. If you feel like you've been missing our emails , you're not imagining it! We think many of you who weren't receiving them will be getting them again now. Thank you for your patience!
Fresh from the Fields
Right now we have a beautiful crop of Asian eggplant with very little seed, colorful bell peppers, and sungold tomatoes , all at their peak and perfect for late-summer cooking.
A ton of shishito peppers! These little Japanese peppers are a favorite for a reason: they're thin-skinned, super mild, and made to be blistered in a hot pan with a little oil and salt. Fair warning though , every once in a while, one sneaks in a little kick. It's part of the fun!
Purple Asparagus , Coming This Fall
Once the temps drop below 90 consistently, we'll be trying our very first fall harvest of purple asparagus. It's sweeter and more tender than the green kind (and it turns green when you cook it, fun party trick!). Stay tuned.
A Little Help?
Our well went down again (ugh), and we're on the hunt for a good bladder pressure tank with a replaceable bag. If you know where to buy one locally or online, please send us a note : we'd really appreciate it.
Chick News
We welcomed 32 new chicks! Egg inventory should start picking back up by March as the new flock comes into lay.
Family Updates
Dad continues to be in really good spirits after his stroke and is recovering well : we're so grateful for all the well wishes.
And some exciting news: Tim has officially retired from law enforcement and is home with us full-time now! If you're around the farm, stop by and catch up with him : he'd love to see you.
Cabins
The cabins are doing well and we're so thankful for all our guests. If you haven't stayed with us yet, come enjoy the peace and quiet above the Haw River.
Shout-outs
A huge thank you to Angie, who is an absolute cleaning rock star, and to James Fry, who has done so much work on our high tunnels this season : we couldn't be more grateful.
And to our wonderful neighbors Ches and Grant : thank you for covering us during all the equipment failures lately. It truly takes a village, and we're lucky to be in yours.
And a big shout-out to Tim, who has already gotten the prep area and tool shed organized since his retirement : the place has never looked so tidy! Bonus: his favorite polydactyl cat has apparently made a skunk friend, and we need a name in the spirit of Pepé Le Pew. Any suggestions?

Warm Regards,
Sonya
